Tree-planting honors plane-crash victim
ROSEBURG: A tree will be planted in Fir Grove Park Wednesday in honor of Bruce Klein, who was killed in a plane crash last November along with Sally Wilson and Cole Black.
The tree-planting event will be at 1:30 p.m. and is sponsored by Communities for Health Forests, a group Klein helped found and for which he served as chairman, according to a press release from the organization.
Klein was also involved with the Marion Carl Foundation, which brings inspirational speakers to Douglas County to speak to local children about the importance of education. Klein was flying speaker Black home to California along with fellow Marion Carl Foundation volunteer Sally Wilson when his plane crashed.
The 12-foot maple will be planted in the park near the entrance to the Woolley Center and Umpqua Valley Arts Center complex next to where the city of Roseburg will install a Fir Grove Park sign, according to the release.
